Labrador Retriever Dog Breed Description
- The appearances of the two main breeds of Labradors
are different - the American Labrador Retriever dog breed tends
to be tall and lanky, while English-bred labs have a thicker and
blockier appearance.
- Labrador Retrievers are muscular dogs, with a broad head and nose,
a wide muzzle, and a powerful neck.
- Labs have a short, easy to care for coat that comes in black, yellow,
chocolate, or, in rare cases, silver or gray.
- Labs have intelligent-looking chestnut or hazel eyes and medium-sized
pendant ears.
- Bred to retrieve game in the water, most Labs have webbed feet that
aid in swimming.
———————— Temperament ————————
- These affectionate and patient dogs are known for being good-natured,
loyal, intelligent, and friendly.
- They love to play both on land and in water, and are wonderful with
children and other dogs.
- Labs love to feel that they are part of your family and are easily
trained, particularly if they are well-socialized as puppies.
- Field lines of the Labrador Retriever dog breed may become nervous
and destructive if their human owner does not act as "pack leader"
or if they do not receive enough exercise.
